Been a couple months since my last update.
School Game Project MQP Pitch:
Just today I realized my MQP (Major Qualifying Pitch) was approved for Pitch Day. Very exciting stuff - I've been putting a lot of work into it and I think it'll be a really fun project. Just have to find a team now. Fingers crossed!
You can preview the proposal below if you're interested. It's a deck-builder meets tactical grid-based combat game set in a greek mythology setting.
School Project in Japan:
In March, I will be going to Japan for 2 months to work with a group of people there called the Haioku group that is working to address to abandoned housing problem in Kobe. This is part of my school program (it's my Interactive Qualifying Project). Very excited and nervous about it, but I'm very grateful for the opportunity as well.
Other Stuff:
This school is great, I'm learning a lot with the 7-week term schedule, but boy is it a lot of work. It is very challenging to achieve a healthy work-life balance here! It is very common that I work on the weekends, and I would say I am more often than not working well over 40 hours a week (I would guess 60 weekly hours on average). Though I don't particularly intend to work overtime like this after I get my degree, I am certainly getting a high rate of return on my tuition. It's all good - just is hard to find time for side projects during the term. Well, I'll have plenty of time for those projects when I'm done with my education here.
